Pool parties and popsicles are summer staples. Nothing says fun more than a water gun and a few deceivingly healthy snack options for everyone to indulge on. We’ve worked on a fun recipe just for this special occasion. Of course, it’s low in sugar and perfectly full of natural flavor; that means that this Popsicle won’t turn your mouth neon colors =)
All Natural Strawberry Peach Pops:
-1 ½ cup of slide strawberries
-½ cup minced peach pieces
-1 ½ tablespoon of mint leaves (chopped thinly)
-3 cups of Something Natural Strawberry Peach
-1 tablespoon of fresh lemon zest
1. Prepare your fruit pieces to ensure they’ll look pretty, but still fit into your Popsicle mold or ice tray. Then set aside the fruit.
2. Grab your bottle of sparkling water and add to mold.
3. Add a bit of the lemon zest and mint to each individual Popsicle to ensure even distribution.
4. Add the fruit pieces into the mold alternating between fruit for taste and look. You man even blend the mixture together if you’d prefer a more mixed flavor and an even reddish color throughout.
5. The liquid expands and so leave a ¼ inch of space at the top for the freezing to occur correctly.
6. Insert Popsicle sticks if you are using a special mold.
7. Freeze the mold for 3 hours or longer. To ensure a clean break when removing the Popsicle, just run warm water under the mold for about 15 seconds.
Now you just sit back and enjoy this healthy and refreshing sweet treat… or you can serve to others if you’re feeling generous.

Summer is getting closer and closer, so we wanted to celebrate by sharing a fun recipe. In many parts of the world, especially Spain and Latin America, people drink something called, “Tinto de Verano.” It literally means “red wine of summer.” It’s a delicious and refreshing staple great for the warm sunny days… well, actually if you live in a tropical place, it’s a staple everyday!
The simplicity of this mixed drink is the best part. The original recipe calls for a red wine (of any variety), a lemon-lime soda, and a lemon. We want you to ditch the lemon-lime sugar-filled stuff for some of our naturally flavored and low calorie sparkling water.
Tinto de Verano ingredients:
– 2 oz Red Wine
– 2 oz Something Natural Sparkling Water Black Cherry
– 1 Lemon Slice
– 1 Cup of Ice
It’s a combination of equal parts wine and sparkling water – so you don’t even have to worry about math for this recipe. Also, no need to shake this up because it has carbonation and that is a Bartending 101 no-no. Just be sure to remember the ice to keep it all chilled, especially since you’ll be poolside sipping on this tasty creation. 😉
Another great reason why our twist on this Spanish classic is killer? The addition of water helps reduce the impact of a hangover because it keeps you a bit more hydrated – not that we recommend chugging tinto all day. Sometimes people just want a great alcoholic beverage alternative that has less artificial and more fiesta. It might look harmless and full of fun, but soda is not your friend and here’s why:
Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there…
Soda is a sneaky beverage. It tricks so many into thinking that it’s okay to drink and that it hardly affects your weight but the truth it – it totally does! Your pants may continue to fit fine but what is going on inside your body is not fine. In fact a study found that people who drank soda every day for six months saw a 132 to 142 percent increase in liver fat and a 117 to 221 percent jump in skeleton fat. Yikes.
Put the diet soda down…
Diet soda does not have as many calories, carbs or sugar as regular soda, which makes it easy to believe that it’s a fairly healthy alternative. Unfortunately this is false. Just because it’s “diet” doesn’t mean it’ll help your diet. Researchers from the University of Texas Health Science Center monitored 475 adults for 10 years, and found that those who drank diet soda had a 70 percent increase in waist circumference over the 10-year study, compared with those who didn’t drink any soda.
Sugar sugar sugar and more sugar
An average can of soda contains the equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar. This gigantic form of liquid sugar skyrockets your blood sugar levels and can cause an insulin reaction to the body. Over time, the consumption of soda can lead to diabetes, insulin resistance and of course weight gain. There’s no need for an abundance of sugar consumption when many refreshing alternatives exist. Still stuck on “10 teaspoons of sugar”? Yea, we are too.
Mmmmm Phosphoric acid
Phosphoric acid sounds yummy doesn’t it? This delicious acid actually interferes with the body’s ability to absorb calcium and can lead to osteoporosis, cavities and bone softening. When you are trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, the last thing you want are soft bones.
The side effects of soda consumption are unpleasant, unhealthy and unnecessary. Next time you reach for a regular OR diet soda, consider grabbing something a little more natural…

We all hear them. These wild facts flying around about what we should or should not put in our bodies. When the information hits close to home, we decide to hit you with some knowledge! So here is a list of myths about carbonation that are just fizz!
1. Carbonation leaches calcium from your bones!
This myth is only connected to soda drinking. It actually comes from a study where the test subjects either drank carbonated or distilled water for an entire 8 week period. Luckily, results came back equal for all participants. We say: Why mess with soda at all when a healthy alternative exists?
2. Carbonation will rot your teeth!
Drinking all those bubbles can’t be healthy for your teeth can it? Carbonation will make your teeth deteriorate and fall out, won’t it? Nope, you’re in luck! Carbonation itself has not been linked to tooth decay. Scientists even went as far to soak teeth in still and carbonated water, and still there were zero findings of harmful effects to the teeth. BOOM!
3. Does carbonation cause cellulite?
No, carbonation does not cause cellulite. This myth is usually related to high caloric and sugary drinks. Lucky for you at Something Natural all of our tasty drinks have 30 calories and seven grams of sugar per bottle, keeping you looking great and cellulite free.
4. Carbonation is harmful to your stomach!
